The Griffin Newcastle Rugby Club was founded in 2010 by a group of retired professional Rugby players. Everyone involved in the incorporation of the club is a profound lover of the sport. Learn more about us.


The club was established to provide an excellent platform for honing and recognizing talent in the Rugby sport.


We have a team of over 10 qualified, skilled and certified coaches who were all former professional rugby players.


We have multiple squads for children, teens and adults to help every lover of Rugby enjoy the sport the way they want to.


We conduct matches, meetings, training sessions and various other events to increase influence of Rugby in Newcastle.


We have the play areas, gears, exercise equipment and human resources to ensure you get the best services.


For squad members we hold regular training sessions to help them build their confidence in the field.

The Griffin Newcastle Rugby Club is an establishment that came into existence due to the passion, hard work and dedication of these former professional Rugby players.

Mathew Malcolm


Malcolm was a pro Rugby player for 15 years before he retired and the idea of opening the club came to him.

Jem Richardson


Jem was one of the most-promising pro Rugby players in Newcastle and has over 15 years of professional experience.

William Bell


With over 13 years of experience as pro Rugby player, William is an asset to the club and reckoned for his insights.
